4 Things to Include in Your Luxury Home

If you are having a luxury home built from the ground up, all of the designing options are entirely up to you. There are some things you should consider including not just for a more inviting and elegant home, but because they are things home buyers might be looking for if you ever decide to sell the home.

Natural Stone

There are many different building materials you can choose from inside and outside your home, such as concrete, brick, fiberglass, and wood. Some surfaces call for natural stone, which is highly recommended. Many high-end homes use natural stone in the walls, countertops, floors, and many other areas. While the materials cost more to obtain and the labour costs might also be higher, you won't be sorry you chose natural stone like marble, granite, limestone, and travertine.

Open Floor Plans

In terms of the actual layout of the new luxury home, consider going with an open floor plan. This means the home is bright, open, and airy immediately when walking through the door. Open floor plans often have higher ceilings, though not always. Instead of having walls to separate each area of the main rooms, such as the living room, family room, and kitchen, all of these rooms are open to each other. You then use furniture and your own décor items to create barriers between the spaces. This makes the home feel larger and brighter.

Gourmet Kitchen

Another thing people are looking for when it comes to high-end homes is having an amazing kitchen. If you are building a luxury home, you want to spend a good deal of money on the kitchen. This might be the room your family spends the most time in, so it makes sense you would invest more of your budget on it. For a gourmet kitchen, use stainless steel appliances, an oversized refrigerator and freezer, and professional-level cooking appliances. Go with natural stone for the flooring and countertop surfaces, and have a wine fridge installed in the custom kitchen island.

Create Outdoor Living Spaces

The exterior of a luxury home should also include some important amenities. Consider having a large living space in the backyard fit with comfortable sitting furniture, a fire pit, and possibly even a full-sized outdoor kitchen. You can add water and fire features to the patio to increase the ambiance of the space, such as a big fountain in the middle of the patio, LCD lights in the pool and hot tub area, or a nice koi pond.

About Me

Painting, Decorating and Gardening

Yo! My name is Craig and in this blog, I plan to pass on my top tips to anyone who is thinking about giving their home and garden some love and attention. I will be the first to admit that in the past, I haven't always been as kind to my home and garden as I should have been. I used to throw wild parties and the place would get trashed. However, now that I am 32, I have decided I need to be more grown up about these things. I called in a team of contractors who really made the place look great. While they worked, I picked up some great ideas and advice.
